Apple Berry Crumble

This Apple Berry Crumble makes for a great low sugar, but sweet breakfast, snack, or dessert! Serve it on its own, or with your favorite yogurt or ice cream, and you can decide to eat it warm or cold!

Ingredients to make Apple Berry Crumble:

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°.
  2. Place your apples, blackberries, and strawberries in a saute pan with 1 cup of water. Turn the heat to about medium, just enough to get the water simmering. Cook at a simmer for about 10 minutes, until the apples are soft.
  3. While your fruit is cooking, combine your oats, almonds, cinnamon, vanilla, and syrup in a medium bowl. Stir together until the syrup is evenly distributed.
  4. Once your fruit has softened, use a slotted spoon and place your fruit in the bottom of a 9″x9″ baking dish in an even layer. You do not want to add the liquid the fruit is cooked.
  5. Then top your fruit with your oat mixture, spreading evenly over top. No need to pat down just spread loosely over top.
  6. Bake for 20-25 until the top has started to turn a darker brown and crisped up.
  7. Serve on its own, with your favorite yogurt, or ice cream!

Macro Adjustments:

When it comes to baking or similar, It can be hard to adjust the macros. The adjustments you can make to this recipe would not affect the macros much. However, you could choose to make this crumble with other Ingredients.

Substitutions:

Shaved Almond: You could use any nut you like or remove them altogether.

Sugar-Free Syrup: Instead of syrup you could use honey.

Protein:

This recipe has a very low amount of protein. However, that is easily changed by serving this crumble with your favorite greek yogurt! You can also adjust the fat by using a higher-fat yogurt!

Meal Prep:

Yes. This is a great breakfast or snack for meal prepping, it will last for about 6 days in the fridge.

Freezer Friendly:

Unfortunately, this recipe will become extremely soggy during the defrosting process once frozen. Therefore, I do not recommend this dish as a freezer-friendly recipe.
